The Lake of reflections has been drained and the Church has been moved behind the Independence Hall replica accross the street to make way for a new suspended coaster this summer. The Small chapel adjoining the church that used to house the unusual blacklight presentation of the ressurection is now a part of theme park history.

Re: Knotts Coaster replaces Black Light Jesus

Sorry - I worked at Knott's from '84 to '88 and really enjoyed the Church of Reflections and the presentation of the Transformation of Christ. In later years, they had stopped letting people into the small chapel with the simple, yet effective display of Jesus as he changes form. It was one of the most understated yet amazing attractions in the park, and I was sad to see it suffocated. I wish i had gotten video of it at least once, but it never seemed proper, you know?
I'll never forget hearing the music of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" as the blacklight literally transformed Jesus from a drab-clothed, closed-eyed man into a radiant being with eyes wide open -- it brought me to tears many times and it's sad to know that a suspended coaster is taking the place of what was once a very moving and galvanizing experience. I love coasters, but at what cost?
Thanks for weighing in on this - I know that I'm not alone......
