Has anyone here done one of those big Skycoasters?

I'd like to hear about some other experiences on this frightful thing. They still haven't built one bigger than the 300 foot tall one at Old Town here in Florida, but the 250 foot drop that I did in Vegas was enough for me, thanks!

Used to work for them when they were a young company back in '97. I helped manage the one at SFoG (only 150ft tall). Damn I loved testing that ride every morning. We opened the ride about 2 hours after the park did, so when your the first one out and there are a thousand people gasping at what your about to do, is just plain fun.

I've been on the one in Vegas and the smaller one at Lagoon in Utah. Both were quite fun but not, to me, worth the extra $$.

The first couple of swings are stunning.

There is one somewhere, can't remember where, that swings out over a very large gorge.

I believe that would be the Royal Gorge in Colorado. 1,200 feet above the Arkansas River.

The Royal Gorge is worth visiting even if you don't do the Skycoaster. Just a magnificent place.

Man, and I thought the Vegas flight was a humdinger - this looks like a real heart-attack waiting to happen.

What's next? Skycoaster off the edge of the Stratosphere Tower? I hear they've got a ride ready to debut that will slide you over the edge as it is....920 feet, dangling above the strip. eeeeeeeeeee.....

Eventually someone's just going to charge you money to be harnessed to the outside of an orbital payload rocket, then released into freefall at 60,000 feet to land on the World's Biggest Trampoline in the middle of a volcano.

oh wait yes now I remember. I thought you were referring to the rollercoaster on top of the hotel in Vegas that looks like the Space Needle.
I did do the skycoaster twice, once in Great Adventure (NJ) and the second time last summer in a small park in Bristol, CT Lake Compounce. They boast to have the highest 300ft.
It was incredible for me, my boss was scared to death and kept her eyes closed the whole time.
I will definitely do it again!
